Director of Community Outreach in Cleveland
Claudia Longo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, and emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 2002, where she lives with her two children.
She started working as a freelance writer for La Mega Nota in 2019. Claudia likes to write about social issues like immigration, racial disparities, environment, education, and Latino culture. In 2020 she became the Digital News Administrator for La Mega Nota, in charge of managing the news and social media content for the publication.
She is currently working for Catholic Charities as a Special Project Administrator doing COVID-19 vaccine outreach and information in the Hispanic community of the near west side of Cleveland and as the Project Coordinator for the Hispanic Heritage Hub. She also writes for the local publication The Land as a freelance contributor and translation services. Claudia has worked in different communication campaigns like Essential Ohio as social media administrator and for local children's book author Raquel M. Ortiz as her communications coordinator.
In 2020, Claudia joined the collaborative North East Ohio Solutions Journalism Collaborative (NEOSOJO) as La Mega Nota's representative, creating stories about COVID-19 and how the health crisis affected our communities.
Claudia is on several boards including the Greater Cleveland Association of Hispanic Journalists (GCAHJ), and the Ohio Immigrant Alliance.
She is also a board member of Babel Box Theater, a Latino artists-led group whose mission is to foster a community of cross-cultural actors and produce plays that promote and give a voice to underrepresented communities of all types in Ohio.
In her role as Community Outreach Director for the Cleveland Market, Claudia hopes to help the Hispanic community get access to information about services, programs, and events available to them in Spanish.
